Sol Camino Journeys started as a shared notebook between three people who kept ending up on the same trains. One of us plans routes for a living and cares about timetables, one writes about the counters and markets where people actually eat, and one has spent enough years in the south to know which plaza has shade at two in the afternoon. The guide exists because the advice we were sending friends by message kept being better than what we could find published.

Nothing here is assembled from press releases. Every route on this site has been driven, walked or ridden by the writer who filed it, and the fares, hours and prices in the text are the ones they paid on the day. When a train time changes or a market moves, the page is updated rather than left to age quietly.
How we research
We work in order: transport first, because a route that does not connect is not a route; then where to sleep, what it costs, and what the day looks like hour by hour. Writers carry a notebook of timings and receipts, and we publish the boring details on purpose, since a two-hour bus connection is the difference between a good week and a bad one.
What you will find here
- Multi-city routes across Spain and Portugal with real journey times and booking windows.
- City guides built around walking order, meal hours and ticket rules.
- Food and market guides written from counters, not from dining rooms.
- Practical pieces on trains, buses, packing and the border crossings between the two countries.
What we promise
Our own money on every booking, no paid placements, and no restaurant or hotel that buys a paragraph here. If a place has gone downhill since we published it, the page says so. If a cheaper counter beats the famous dining room, we write that too, with the price next to it, so you can decide rather than trust us.
